| Article in Today’s METRO: ‘Footprints which could be 7,000 years old have been unearthed in a peat bed in Druridge Bay, Northumberland. It is believed the 100m long site had been uncovered during the recent tidal surge that hit the north-east coast. The find follows similar footprints at nearby Low Hauxley, in a dig which took place last year. (Recent Time Team Special) ‘You can clearly see lots of footprints along with some tree trunks’ said archaeologist Barry Mead. ‘It is incredible to stand on the beach and look at footprints left by animals passing this way thousands of years ago’. Both adult and child prints were identified during the Low Hauxley work and those of wild boar, large deer and cattle similar to the modern highland variety’. As an aside there is also an article to say that a castle in Kilmartin is up for sale for a 'mere' £375,000. Good place to live for visiting the many fantastic prehistoric sites!
