Thank you.

Would you like to see my collection of paper as well? I have a small piece from Dunhuang and several pieces from the Nara Period which are over a thousand years old. The paper still rattles when you shake it (as it did when it was first made). They’re brown now but were originally bright yellow from being dyed with extract from the Amur cork tree (Phellodendron japonicum). The dye contains a natural insecticide which helped preserve the paper and the religious texts written on it.
