You don't make lakes from flooding old workings. You make massive pools of stagnant, lifeless water fulll of sludge, bad chemicals, coiled wire and rubbish which are only good for drowning teenagers in hot weather.

Quarry companies have been doing it for years. Usually on planning applications the companies refer to them as "lagoons". Patersons of Greenoakhill's latest application to destroy the Upper Clyde Valley at Lamington changed the word "lagoons" to "conservation lochans".

I suggest these slag heaps are levelled, covered with soil and replanted. Don't let them leave a "lagoon" or a "conservation lochan" either.
