I was showing an Aussie mate of mine around the stones on Sun and we turned up at stone 206. This is the one E of the Cove with the "face" in profile looking N. I was surprised to see on its E face what seemed to be a large chunk missing! I know this stone a bit and I'm sure I'd have noticed this before.
We went over and joined the Megameet and I persuaded the peeps over to inspect. The consensus was that it looked very suspicious; crystalline structure showing, no weathering, complete lack of lichens.
Has anyone got a pic of this side?

Jim.

Hi Jim,

Do you mean the curved "space"? It reminds me of a shrouded figure. I've only been going to Avebury a couple of years, so I don't know if it's old-new but it's not new-new (does that make sense?)

Or are you talking about a smaller area of damage?
