Measuring the Aperture in Stone 8 (Capstone)

In response to several requests for measurements of the aperture, I have produced a series of photographs to demonstrate why this is not quite as easy a task as one would imagine. The aperture is 3 dimensional and shows a highly complex interaction between it's surfaces, edges and curves.
To work out the mathematics will require specialist laser mapping equipment.
