A question about a holed stone in Penwith

I have wanted to ask this question since I returned from a most enjoyable spring week in West cornwall. I don't have the OS grid reference, which is probably why I hesitated to ask sooner; it is on the right hand side of the road about a quarter of a mile outside the tiny village of Sheffield (near Paul) going towards Lamorna.

We passed this beautiful granite holed stone by B3315 at the start of our walk to the Merry Maidens. It looks as though it may have been sited at that spot in recent times ... does anyone know anything about it.

Many thanks in advance for any info.
