Recording the destruction of the landscape and monuments by the M3 below the Hill of Tara is not a particularly 'stones; pastime. To date, two souterrains have been discovered, one since destroyed. The Lismullin 'henge' partly destroyed and covered over.
The last to be mentioned is Rath Lugh, sitting on an esker, (a fragile gravel surface) it is in the process of also being partly destroyed by the contractors working on the proposed motorway. It does however have a temporary protection order on it issued by no other than Mr.Gormley himself. The protestors are intervening 'legally', they do after all have the backing of the order. The following is an independent archaeological report should anyone in Ireland be interested in it ;)
