As we all know, councillors are always squeaky clean upstanding persons whose only interest is what is best for the community (said with a straight face), thing is, this is not just a local issue.
Of course the views of the local people should be taken into account The bigger picture is that this is a issue of national importance, a balance needs to be set regarding the need for sustainable power generation and the destruction of one of the few unspoilt wilderness areas that we have left in our islands. As someone quoted in another thread, 'you don't know what you got till it's gone'.
Regarding locals vs incomers, the Outer Hebrides has suffered from a steady decline in population and relies on incomers to keep many of it's communities alive. Is it possible that the creation of huge wind factories on these wilderness sites will destroy the very thing that many of the incomers are looking for and thus hasten the slow decline of the islands population?
