Just struck me Rhiannon that there is not many barrows in vicinityof Stantonbury, but there is one..Priest Barrow, along the lane from Priston to Wellow (Stoney Littleton) could be a direct prehistoric route there, which skirts Stantonbury hill. The footpath continues from the lane past the barrow and straight on. Might have been one of the routes down from the Mendips to Wellow!
