All the photos are beautiful, I spent a lot of the weekend reading up the Vortigern site, and tracing the path of the Wansdyke. These edge boundaries have a beauty in their own right, the Bords said that the graceful curvilinear lines were a creative act, somewhat doubt that, more the passage of time smoothing out the contours and different workgangs.
Also came across Peter's photo of Dinas Emyrs on the Portal, a real in your face craggy edifice in a glorious setting, absolutely stunning. Whether Vortigern retreated here I cannot say, but a lot of the photos on both megalithic sites are inspirational and teach us, or at least should teach us, to be a bit more humble in our opinions as to what really happened in the past..
