Hob,
My parascending mate went to Arran for a week at Whit, and during his wanderings over Goat Fell descended onto Machrie Moor. He hadn't been into much antiquarian stuff before, but he was astounded by the pink stone of the three standing stones. The site had a profound effect on him, almost a conversion. Now he has an interest in the prehistoric.
By the way, the erosion on the Machrie Moor stone looks like that of your last Northumbrian post. Is the rock the same?
Cheers,
TE.
