Archaeologists are very unsure what this site is, though they are nowadays disinclined to see it as a chambered cairn. At a talk recently the tale was related of the central stones of the Standing Stones of Stenness having been re-erected by antiquarians in the form of the cromlech they believed it to have been. On hearing the story again my mind flashed to the Stones of Via (of which the same opinion was once held) and whether that site is actually another henge, or at least intended to be so. If it had once been a complete henge perhaps the stones (?intended for) the outer circle were taken elsewhere.
