Cursi aside, the length of the long barrows doesn't seem to have been indicative of the status of those that built it. LB architecture evolved and had its own regional quirks, but it doesn't look like there was much phallic prowess involved (let's be honest, men obsess about the length of things much more than women)*.

If the barrow is a womanly form (an idea I buy into) then it's not really the kind of place to be looking for phallic imagery (at least not externally). Perhaps one community would have boasted about the size of their womb compared to the long barrow down the valley.
