Yes, there's a whole slew of endangered sites in SW Northumberland to be taken care of. There the birds of prey are shot and poisoned, rather than blended, and potential mills have been discouraged because of the nuisance value to jet pilots practising their bombing (allegedly).

The ungainly steel towers are only a stop gap until better technology is developed - off-shore wind eg, and wave energy and, mainly, conservation and reduction of demand. I produce the same carbon dioxide as the average Egyptian person (2t./yr.), a quarter of your's, and so claim the moral high ground in this context.

There are plenty of people using the loss of visual amenity argument over the Sleeping Goddess typography but precious fewd and to photograph it (when it happens).
