Just for info, the 'internal stone' is often interpreted (including by me - but also by some more sensible peeps!) as being broken off from the stump at the 'far' (SW?) corner, and the mound is pretty similar to 'platforms' that quite a few small circs (inc some 4 posters) are built on. Loupin' Stanes - (not a 4 poster) springs to mind for example.

Nice pics of a relatively 'un-overgrown' and 'uncloudy & un-pissing down' Appletreewick btw!
