This may or may not be a thorny issue, but here goes.
Last week while in the Avebury area I was lucky enough to find the Polisher.
As I was leaving, a guided tour of walkers numbering around 20 people arrived, and I heard the guide say he was going to show them the 'Polissoir'.
Now, I don't think many people would disagree that there's always been a certain deliberate lack of info on how and where to find the stone.
As I understand it, this may be to avoid it getting damaged (or lifted - !?) as I've heard tell it is unprotected by law.
But if people can PAY to go on a guided tour to show them where it is, surely that makes the mystery a bit redundant. Personally I'd much rather fellow enthusiasts could find it from TMA for free than a bunch of paying punters.
What's anyone think?
love
