That might well be a police matter that the farmer may well have to answer for if someone gets hurt as a result of his actions in trying to stop people getting onto his land. As I understand it, the owner of any premises has to ensure that his or her property allows free access at all times without risk to the person entering the property - even if it was a burglar I suppose, But don't quote me on that.
