Watched this semi-autobiographical film of Amy Liptrot's book The Outrun over the Xmas holiday. Available on Amazon Prime to rent for £4.99. A great performance by Saoirse Ronan in the part of Amy Liptrot who goes back to her home on Orkney as a recovering alcoholic escaping from her life in London. If you have read the book you will know she over-winters on Papa Westray working for the RSPB monitoring the elusive corn crake. There are a few incidental appearances of the ancient monuments on Orkney including the Ring of Brodgar in the early part of the film. And the amazing Knap of Howar in the Papa Westray part of the film. If you love Orkney this film might be for you.
