Tomorrow evening (Fri 14th June) I'm giving an illustrated talk in the Avebury Social Centre, at 7.30 pm. It's about the work I've been doing on springs & rivers and their relationship to the Avebury monuments - particularly over the last winter when the water table was unusually high. The talk is part of the Avebury Society's AGM but is open to all - free for members, £3 for non-members.

The current issue of British Archaeology magazine has my article on the same subject, but concentrating on the discovery of springs around the Silbury ditch.

Hi Steve,

I don't know if you'll remember, but we met v briefly at the Marden talk in Devizes. I read your article in BA last night. Really enjoyed it, superb piece of work. I think you've discovered something very important indeed.

Will try my best to make it to the talk, but i'm 2+ hours away and working tomorrow so will be touch and go! If I do get there will say hello.

I'm planning to come along Steve - am sure it will be a great talk. Have roped in friend with car and am also looking forward to having a peaceful, late evening wander around Avebury after the talk.

You can't look at Silbury without acknowledging that water is core. Understanding Silbury means understanding ebb and flow.

Pity all the action was up there. Hope the talk goes well. Looks like I'll be buying the BA.

Just picked up a copy of the mag yesterdaay and had a read today,
Wonderful stuff, gives some additional context to the whole fertility intimation that many have about Silbury and some concrete (or should we say fluid) hints for interpreting neolithic sacred landscapes.
