yes , it's the tip of the iceberg. - there is a massive amount of other things in the archipelago and across siberia. there is a problem with access to that area and according to my friend alex, the islands have been placed in the control of the russian orthodox church who are at, best indifferent to, and, at worst,hostile to the 'pagan' remains.

Speaking of Russian control, I recently read a book by Anna Reid called The Shaman's Coat, A Native History of Siberia. It's a wonderful and shocking book dealing with the history of Siberia and Russian imperialism. I'd recommend it to anyone who has an interest in the area.
