Spent a week in Crianlarich Youth Hostel. Was a very pleasant stay. Staff were polite and helpful and had a good knowledge of places to go and what to see.
Facilities were good. Toilets and showers were clean and the kitchen had all the appliances you could possibly need. There was also plenty of entertainment for winding down at night; board games, books, jigsaws and a TV (although it was broken whilst we were staying)
All in all a pleasurable stay and with such great access to the Highlands Crianlarich is a great place to be based. Will be staying there again. |

We got here after walking all day in torrential rain and gale force winds, and despite shaking with cold and being drenched through, we were made to stand for over half an hour filling in forms and membership cards - we were so cold that we couldn't sign our cards because of the shakes.
Then when that ordeal was over, the showers went cold after a couple of minutes. Anyone familiar with YHA and SYHA hostels will know that there are all kinds of rules, such as the front door being locked at 11:30 and lights out at 11:45.
Altogether a disappointing and unfriendly experience. |
