Robert M. Schoch earned his Ph.D. (1983) in Geology and Geophysics at Yale University. In the early 1990s, Dr. Schoch stunned the world with his revolutionary research that recast the date of the Great Sphinx of Egypt to a period thousands of years earlier than its standard attribution. In demonstrating that the leonine monument has been heavily eroded by water despite the fact that its location on the edge of the Sahara has endured hyper-arid climactic conditions for the past 5,000 years, Dr. Schoch revealed to the world that mankind’s history is greater and older than previously believed. Dr. Schoch’s latest research, put forth in his newest book, "Forgotten Civilization: The Role of Solar Outbursts in Our Past and Future", points to the astronomical cause of the demise of antediluvian civilizations, as well as the scientific and archaeological evidence that supports his conclusions. Robert joined Megalithomania on the Peru and Easter Island expedition in November 2013. Lecture on Megalithic South America - London, Thursday 7th June

Hugh has been travelling around North, Central and South America investigating megalithic sites and tracking the path of the famous Rainbow Serpent and Plumed Serpent global energy currents for several years. His recent trip to Peru, Bolivia and Colombia will be under the spotlight in this presentation.
Gargantuan megalithic temples that predate the Inca exist in these countries that defy explanation and have legends that consistently relate to Virococha, or the 'Feathered Serpent', a god who was hugely influential in prehistoric times. He was said to be able talk any language, summon thunder and levitate big blocks of stone. He introduced sophisticated agriculture, metalwork, construction, and taught the arts of vegetarianism, art and good communication. Like the legends of Quetzalcoatl in Mexico, he arrived from the waters on a raft of serpents' and eventually left for pastures anew.
Who were these 'serpent' gods? Where did they come from? Were they masters of working with earth energies? Hugh will give an overview of all the megalithic sites he visited, including the lesserknown San Augustin in Southern Colombia and the incredible underground complex of Chavin de uanter in Central Peru.
Hugh Newman is an earth mysteries and esoteric science researcher. He organises the Megalithomania Conferences, coedits Avalon Rising magazine and coordinates talks, films and workshops at numerous festivals. He has researched the Indigo child phenomenon and publishes a book on the subject. His most recent book, Earth Grids – The Secret Pattern of Gaia's Sacred Sites, has been published by Wooden Books. He is writing a book about the Wandlebury complex near Cambridge.

Dartmoor Stone Circles and Avenues with author Peter Knight: Wednesday 16th May 2012, 8am - 6pm.
A five-hour walk around the incredible landscape of megalithic Dartmoor, Devon, visiting stone circles, megalithic avenues, menhirs and tracking earth energies. First, the Fernworthy Stone Circle, hidden in woods on the edge of the moor. Then we will walk up onto the moor to see the Longstone and adjacent stone rows. Some of these are astronomically aligned. Then into Chagford for lunch: there are tea rooms and pubs. (Note: Not included in price). After lunch, we shall visit the Scorhill Stone Circle, which nestles in fantastic scenery, and has astronomical alignments, before going down to the river nearby to visit the Tolmen Stone, a massive boulder with a hole right through it, which we shall descend into as a rite of passage.

MEGALITHOMANIA 2009 – DEDICATED TO JOHN MICHELL
The annual MEGALITHOMANIA CONFERENCE returns for its fourth convention of the megalithic arts and sciences at The Assembly Rooms, Glastonbury on 23rd & 24th May 2009. This year's line-up includes Graham Hancock, Robert Temple, Christine Rhone, Michael Hodges, Robin Heath and many others. Since it's humble beginnings in 2006, MEGALITHOMANIA has become Europe's foremost assembly of scholars, authors and researchers on all things megalithic. The varied subjects blend academic disciplines with cutting-edge research from a variety of fields, including archaeoastronomy, geomancy, archaeoacoustics, geodesy, earth energies, navigation and geometry.
The pioneer of the earth mysteries renaissance, John Michell, passed away on Friday 24th April at 12.30am, so we are dedicating the conference to his memory. He was the main inspiration for creating the event, and even gave us permission to use the Megalithomania name (from his 1982 book). He has been involved in the first three events since its inception in 2006 and will be greatly missed by us all. The speakers forum on the Sunday afternoon will be about his life and work and how he has inspired generations of Megalithomaniacs with his cutting-edge discoveries, original ideas and visionary understanding of the ancients. There will be contributions from John Martineau, John Neal, Jamie George, Christine Rhone, Robin Heath and several others who were close to John.
A total of thirteen talks and one film screening are planned for the conference with book signings, a megalitho-market place, an extensive art exhibition and Glastonbury town on the doorstep of the venue. The varied subjects blend academic disciplines with cutting-edge research from a variety of fields, including archaeoastronomy, geomancy, archaeoacoustics, geodesy, earth energies, navigation and geometry.
A late addition to the 2009 line-up is Robin Williamson, a master bard and storyteller, who founded The Incredible String Band. He is also a researcher of ancient myths and legends of the British Isles, and will be performing a Bardic account about the Tuatha de Danaan; notably the two battles of Moytura, the sacred megalithic complex at Sligo in Ireland. An ancient oral tradition that recounts conflicts of the ancestors at the dawn of the world, gleaned from Irish mythology. He will be presenting on Saturday afternoon and also be doing an exclusive Saturday evening concert.
Robin Heath, author of Sun, Moon & Stonehenge will be guiding full-access tours to Stonehenge and Avebury on the Friday and Monday and also presenting his groundbreaking new research on an 'ancient national grid' across Britain at the conference on the Sunday. On a similar note, Tom Brookes will be screening his new film about a prehistoric geodetic survey of Southern England linking earth-mounds, standing stones and other archaeological features into a coherent, scientific system that has been completely ignored by the academic fraternity. He has been studying this subject for nearly fifty years, contacted every University in Britain about his discoveries, published a book on the subject, but his conclusions has been dismissed as 'arcane' and simply 'impossible' for such a developed standard of surveying to have existed 5,000 years ago. Both Robin & Tom have hit 'brick walls' when presenting their findings to the academics and this is an ongoing problem encountered by many researchers; a theme that will be discussed at the event.
On the other side of the Atlantic, in the North Eastern states of America are a remarkable network of megalithic sites that, again, have been placed in the archaeological trash by the historical establishment. Hugh Newman, author of Earth Grids: The Secret Patterns of Gaia's Sacred Sites, spent a month exploring the hundreds of ancient chambers, menhirs, dolmens and stone circles in New England, that are another stunning example of a worldwide megalithic effort to construct such sites. Even the Native Americans do not know who constructed many of these sites and there is abundant evidence that this part of the US was visited by advanced civilisations in prehistory that are remembered in many of the legends of the area. Hugh will be speaking on the Sunday morning.

An Earth Mysteries Conference in a Field
The 'Out of the Ordinary' festival in Sussex has asked Avalon Rising, a Glastonbury based earth mysteries group to organize a 'Conference-in-a-Field' that will host multimedia talks and workshops by an international line-up of authors and researchers. Stone circles, dolmens, burial chambers and unusually designed megalithic sites are not limited to the landscape of Britain. A sophisticated understanding of megalithic construction techniques were in use across the whole planet in Neolithic and Bronze Age times. Local sites near Glastonbury are the starting point for this year's Megalithomania conference, but distinguished researchers and authors from all over the world will be discussing their cutting-edge research into ancient civilisations and megalithic sites. From the jungles of Peru, to the temples of the South Pacific and from the mountains of New Zealand to the stones of Brittany, Megalithomania has gone global!
Glastonbury's MEGALITHOMANIA Conference is now in it's third year and is taking place in the Assembly Rooms in Glastonbury on 17th & 18th May 2008. On the Friday (16th) before the event, local sites Stanton Drew and Stoney Littleton will be visited on a guided tour with local author Gordon Strong and archaeo-botanist Gordon Hillman, co-star of the Ray Mears Wild Food TV show on BBC2. On the following Monday, a private tour to Stonehenge will be led by David Furlong and John Michell (tbc).
The keynote speaker for the event is David Hatcher Childress, well known for his groundbreaking research into ancient civilisations. He will be discussing his travels in South America and the Pacific. Geomancer Hamish Miller will be presenting his research on The Stone People of New Zealand and Nicholas Mann & Philippa Glasson will be presenting their breakthroughs on the astro-archaeological alignments of Avalon and how the ancients understood precession of the equinoxes. Other speakers include Tom Graves, who will be re-launching his classic work Needles of Stone, David Furlong will be walking in the footsteps of the 'dod-man' and examine how the megalith builders surveyed, measured and studied the landscape. Special guests from Holland and America, Reinoud Du Jonge & Jay Wakefield have followed clues of a Neolithic maritime civilisation who left maps encoded within rock-art around the world. Author of Europe's Lost Civilisation Peter Marshall, who travelled over 4,000 miles of Europe's megalithic coastlines, will be pinpointing his favourite stories from his epic journey. There will be a Megalithic art gallery during the event curated by Antiquarian artist Kate Masters, including original paintings, photography and 3D pieces. There will be an exclusive preview of the new Standing with Stones film with producer Michael Bott; plus there will be several book launches and signings from some of the authors speaking at the event.
MEGALITHOMANIA is organised by Hugh Newman, Gareth Mills and John Martineau, who in late 2005 realised that the megaliths were not really being looked at by conferences in Britain. With a passion for visiting ancient sites and reading many books on the subject, the three of them dedicated themselves to organising the ultimate conference on megaliths. Leaving no stone unturned, Megalithomania was created to shine a new light on the megalithic sciences and maintain a multidisciplinary forum to help unlock these mysteries. On the Sunday evening at the conference, a speakers forum will be joined by the earth mysteries pioneer and inspiration for the conferences name, John Michell, who published his classic Megalithomania Book in 1982.
The status quo does not immediately support new or radical theories, but a conference like this allows all angles of research to be explored. For example, in the early part of the last century, archaeoastronomy was fumbling to find its feet, but now it is now established that our ancestors were keen astronomers. Earth energy, once thought of as part of the dowsers' overactive imagination, has recently been scientifically verified, documented and used by big business to improve seed production and fertility of crops. The study of sound at sacred sites, archaeoacoustics, is also becoming accepted in some pockets of academia with repeatable scientific study.
Although the old stones can seem like a stuffy and boring subject, the mysteries of our ancient relatives still retain their mystique. As we have seen, modern technology is verifying 'radical' theories and helping unlock some of the secrets of the megaliths. There is a new breed of Megalithomaniac, who don't just want to measure, dig and record what they find. The subtleties of musical harmony, earth energies and altered states of consciousness are now being examined with an open mind, yet from a scientific perspective. We should not hark back to the ancient way of life and pretend it was a 'golden age', but reopen the book of the past with reverence, respect and the knowledge that the builders of the megaliths were not savages, but possessed the same level of intelligence and compassion as we do today.

ROBERT TEMPLE SPEAKING IN GLASTONBURY
ROBERT TEMPLE, bestselling author of 'The Sirius Mystery' will be exclusively talking about his discoveries of prehistoric quartz crystal and glass lenses that date back to the megalithic era at Glastonburys MEGALITHOMANIA conference. Inspired by the incredible research of numerous authors, the conference was created to become an open forum to debate the megalithic arts and sciences. The team felt that history books and colleges do not present the evidence that is being discovered today. Revelations in the fields of archaeoastronomy, geomancy, mathematics, ley alignments, sacred geometry and other cutting-edge disciplines are helping rewrite our own history, but are often completely overlooked by the academic world. Many people want to know where we came from and connect to our ancestors so we hope that this annual event can be part of that process.
