I cant quite figure this one out it seems to be more 'henglike' than a cairn. A curving mound intersected on both sides by a house and a road so its impossible to tell i guess. treehugger-uk Posted by treehugger-uk

It's nice to hear that at least something of this site can still be seen, as it was described by Thomas Dunham Whitaker as all but destroyed around 1763. He wrote that "this heap of stones was removed as materials for building a turnpike road." Archaeologist Bernard Barnes said that "a cist with an inhumation was found. In 1766 another tumulus was removed and an urn found. An axe-hammer is said to have been associated" here. Paulus Posted by Paulus
