For Fox Tor stone row see East Moor stone row....
Fox Tor itself is a jumble of rocks and the chances of finding anything amongst them has to be left to the experts. I thought I had found one of the hut circles but then changed my mind....
A modern cairn has been constructed on the top of the tor along side the old trig point. Nice painted stone inset in it.
Good views to the south towards Trewartha Tor, Hawks Tor and Kilmar Tor.
The only reference I have seen of this possible row is in Cheryl Straffon’s ‘Earth Mysteries Guide to Bodmin Moor and North Cornwall, including Tintagel’ (Meyn Mamvro Publications - 1993, amended 1995 & 2000) which gives an 8 figure grid ref (SX23027862) and says “On the east side of the Tor is a setting of a few upright stones, close to a hut circle settlement. The site overlooks the Nine Stones circle, which has a row of stones that are probably modern boundary”. Personally I think this is pretty slack. ‘Stone setting’? ‘a few’? How about a bit of detail, especially considering that you’ve gone to the trouble of finding it! Using this method there could the 100’s of stone rows all over the moors. I would like to have to a GPS system to find the exact spot they mean, because I found lots of small standing stones around, on various alignments, but couldn’t say for certain that any were the ones they meant. The whole Fox Tor area is very confusing compared to the map - nothing at all is clear (hut circles, boundary work, long house - it looks like a clutter of stones!). The views from the top of the Tor are great though.
