I ‘did’ the East Moor area in a huge circle to include the stone rows at Fox Tor and East Moor, the Nine Stones of Altarnun, and others. I choose to visit Fox Tor first so drove almost up to Tregune (Farm) - unlike what the OS map suggests, the tarmac road doesn’t really go right up to moor. The best place I could find to park was just off the lane about 100m short of the turn to Tregune (Farm).

I must say that of all the Cornish uplands I have been on East Moor was the most confusing and difficult to find my way around. Very few features to focus on and Fox Tor is so littered with rocks that it was hard to know what was what. And the other parts are basically just scattered with gorse (although quite a few bits had recently been burnt off when I visited). After a while everything looks the same! And the boundary stones that I hoped would be easy to find and would then guide me to the Nine Stones, are not obvious to find at all.

East Moor Menhirs (western area) (Standing Stones) — Fieldnotes

This featureless bit of moorland has not seen much archaeological research carried out according to the latest Bodmin Moor book published by English Heritage. Which is why i thought I would take a look...
To be honest there ain't much to look at, I approached via the large conifer plantations that sit just south of the A30 east of Jamaica Inn. You could come via the Nine Stones but its a long walk across some pretty soggy ground.
Anyway i didn't expect to find much but did spot these two upright stones, both surrounded by water. One is roughly at SX214777, the other at SX217771. They stand no more than 3 ft tall but like the East Moor menhir posted by Martin Bull do look the part.
Perhaps one day someone in the know will get up there and have a look?

East Moor Stone Row (Stone Row / Alignment) — Fieldnotes

Some additional field notes....
It is possible to access the East Moor area (including Fox Tor and Nine Stones of Altarnun) from the A30 by turning off at Five Lanes and taking the lane to Halvana. After a while you will come to a small group of cottages with a track leading off to a gate on the left. Park here (making sure you are not blocking anybody) and go through the gate and head out onto the moor. Fox Tor towers over you to your left, the east Moor stones and cairns are ahead to the right.
