Leskernick complex - Cairns on The Beacon - 3.4.2003

The OS map shows two cairns at the top of The Beacon, just off the Downs (in a very rough farm field). I didn’t think they were particularly impressive and didn’t photograph them. Peter Herring and Peter Rose, in ‘Bodmin Moor’s Archaeological Heritage’ (Cornwall County Council - 2001) describe the Western one as a ‘rimmed platform cairn’ and the Eastern one as a ‘rimmed platform cairn with kerb’.
