NASA Tests Aberdeenshire Find For Life On Mars Clues Nasa are exploring the links between a substance only found in the ancient quarry right next to the Maiden Castle (hillfort). The quarry can be seen in one of the sites images. Hardly anything can be seen at this site except for the small parts of the ditches and ramparts. There are some stones lying about which would have been used in the making of walls. The oval shape of the fort can be seen although it is tree covered. The remains of an ancient quarry can also be seen. Superb views can be seen to the north. This can be found near the Rowantree car park at the bottom of Bennachie. Also nearby is the Maiden Stone. Helpfully this also is the start of the best route to the Mither Tap Hill Fort. For good measure I've posted the official findings below. Visited 9/08/09. |
