We had glorious summer weather for the entire week on Arran earlier on this month. It rained for one hour on one afternoon only. Being thoughtful types, we'd arranged for the rest of the rain to fall at night-time. A week of beaches, stones and scorching hill walks.
Over the last few "poor" UK/Scottish summers we have always had great weather on Arran. I have sat sweltering on the beach at Kildonan watching rainclouds scour up the Ayrshire coast on one side and up Kintyre on the other - while we sat in between in a sunny blue pocket eating ice creams.
Climbed Goatfell in shorts and a vest in the middle of last October. A week later the mountain was white with snow. You can sometimes fluke it with Arran... sometimes...
