Isn't this a marvellous place! One of my favourite places of all time which I used to walk to from Wroughton as a kid. The best approach in my opinion is through the beech woods to the east following the escarpment and then it just suddenly appears, truly magical. A R Cane Posted by A R Cane

Thanks for your comment, I will definitely go back - was following the White Horse Trail on this occasion but would like to explore the nearby wooded areas too. tjj Posted by tjj
