Arbory Hill

Hillfort

Arbory Hill (Hillfort) by GLADMAN Arbory is - at least in its final form - a tri-vallate enclosure, two outer ramparts protecting a massive, drystone inner wall. Seems someone was out to impress/overawe. The image shows the southern flank, middle rampart, towards the A74(M). It would appear Arbory was perfectly sited to control passing traffic.... if not of the motorised variety.
