Ardestie

Souterrain

Ardestie (Souterrain) by Howburn Digger The round house stone footings are on the left. To the right you can see the curving souterrain with its central floor drain. When the monument was brushed and spivved up for the public, the floor area was covered in a thick layer of gravel which hides this interesting drain feature. The original occupants were storing stuff in there which they didnt want to get wet.
