Just watched this all the way through; what an terrific programme. I visited Orkney and Shetland last year - fell in love with Orkney. Jarlshof on Shetland is relatively unsung compared to Skara Brae though it is a wonderful place to visit as you can still wander around at leisure.

The shots of the Ring of Brodgar in the rain on Orkney reminded me of how lucky I was when I visited as it was a bright blue day. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to go inside Maes Howe so really enjoyed seeing this - I knew it was aligned with the winter solstice but hadn't realised it was the setting sun that hit the back of the tomb. Old Man of Hoy and Dwarfie Stane were great to see as well. Will probably watch again while it is still online - many thanks for posting this link Wideford; distance and finances make my next visit uncertain but Orkney is a place I'll never forget.
