The protective perimeter fence around the interior of the fort has now been removed and you can wander freely inside it. The hideous wooden cross that I stumbled on during a previous visit has now been removed and scuffing around I found these small chalk balls. I know from other similar sites that these were sometimes stockpiled for slingshots for defence, whether that's the case with these I don't know. They seem to be naturally occurring as they're often hollow as you can see from three of the above. A R Cane Posted by A R Cane
