Arcturus how did you get that other-worldly quality to your images, the skies are spectacular. I know very little about photography (I'm a point and click person) and absolutely nothing about photoshop.

One of the friends I met at Avebury yesterday is a photographer and took photos of the morning sun through the mist in the Avebury circle ... the result (posted on Facebook) is probably the most mystical photograph I have ever seen. I am guessing you would like it a lot.

Hi tjj,i tend to underexpose rather than expose at the required level and sometimes use HDR (High Dynamic Ranging) which is 3 or more exposure and overlaid in software like photomatix.photosop is a useful tool but sometimes it can be overdone it depends on what effect you're after, initially though you have to get the right shot in the field to touch up after.I like moody skies i think they have an ability to bring out the form of what you are shooting esp. with landscapes.I'm just a bit miffed i can't get anywhere at the mo. to shoot some new circles lol.I love visuals and mood u you see.Neutral density filters also help to stop the sky down so it's evenly exposed. There are lots of techniques some of which suit different situations more than others.Hope that helps a little the best thing overall i find is to have the passion and that's one thing you already have!
