Cairn Of Pitmansy

Cairn(s)

Fieldnotes

This cairn is also spelt Pitmancy and can be found north of the historic Fyvie Kirk, complete with Pictish stones, just beside the B9005. Take the first lane right/east after the church and follow it for a mile. The cairn can be seen due south overlooking the River Ythan. It has magnificent views all round. The farmers, thru the years, have been kind and left a 10 meters by 10 meters mound 3 feet high. On it rests one fallen stone. Except for the farm, near the B9005, the one surprising thing is the lack of dry stane dykes.
