Long Meg & Her Daughters

Stone Circle

Fieldnotes

Was with Long Meg recently. Amazed at phallic resemblance when stood directly opposite on other side of circle, right next to the largest stone of the circle. Two rounded side-stones completed the image as testes flanking Meg.
Climbed upon this huge stone with flat top & was amazed at sighting to Long Meg & horizon beyond! I'm over 6ft tall but with wooden platform (no evidence) could make accurate alignments with ease. Will investigate azimuthal alignment with celestial rhythms of antiquity when time allows.
Enjoy - and take your shoes off to climb!

I'll post some pages from a 1908 paper which may give you some ideas, but the author may have a pretty screwy idea of the date of the circle. I'm no expert on any of this, mind you! Guy Lawley Posted by Guy Lawley
