The Feast of the Dead - Re-birthing at Shallowhead Springs

Every dawn at Samhain (November 1st) the final part of the feast of the dead is caried out at Shallowhead Springs.

The apples, which represent the souls of the dead, are washed in the ashes of the sacred fire, and cast into the River Kennet.

This ritual is carried out to enable the souls of the dead to pass over into their next existance.

Whatever your thoughts of modern pagan practice, this is as real as it gets.

For more information and a timetable of the elements for the feast of the dead, see Avebury pagan events calendar

This is a public ceromony. Anyone and every one is welcome to participate or just observe.

Praise be to the ancients - so might it be
