Freebrough Hill

Sacred Hill

Freebrough Hill (Sacred Hill) by fitzcoraldo Freebrough Hill from the barrows on Haw Rigg. The 'step' in the side of Feebrough is the remains of a quarry. This quarry proved that Freebrough was an entirely natural hill and not the 'Silbury of the North' as it had been christened by an antiquarian.
The mound behind Freebrough is the Kilton shale tip.
The farm buildings are part of Dimmingdale farm, home to at least two rock art panels.
