Tredegar Fort

Hillfort

Fieldnotes

Well, here's my first attempt at fieldnotes...

Tredegar Fort is a place completely forgotten about in Newport. I'd not been here for nearly 15 years, although it's only a 10 minute walk from my house!

Although much of the fort has been destroyed due to housing and a now disused golf course and playground, and what remains is overgrown, much of the earthworks are still visible. With a fantastic view from most angles it's very easy to understand why a fort was situated here. Unfortunately I don't think my pictures clearly captures the detail.

Tredegar fort is about a 5 minute drive from Gwern-y-Cleppa and Twmbarlwm is clearly visible on the skyline.
