Broken Barrow

Round Barrow(s)

Miscellaneous

Jennifer Westwood (in 'Albion') suggests that the 'Broken Barrow' is one of three barrows up on the hill (c. SS66425) - but surely it makes more sense that it should be the lone barrow next to Brockenbarrow Farm lower in the valley? The lane by the barrow and the farm is called Brockenbarrow (track) or Brockenbarrow Lane, depending on the age of the map you look at. But having read the story above, there's the hint that other barrows are in the vicinity, so perhaps it could be one higher up the hill. Rhiannon Posted by Rhiannon
