Clach Oscar (Standing Stone / Menhir) by GLADMAN Sunnier version of thelonious's image from Glas-Bheinn Mhor - for balance, you understand. Well, Skye isn't always misty. Clach Oscar stands a little beyond Loch na Sguabaidh in appropriately epic surroundings.

Totally off the cuff, to be fair. Was driving toward Dunvegan and, passing Luib, looked up and thought 'Why not?' Massacred my itinerary, but there you are. I bumped into a young Austrian woman coming down from the summit (she'd left her husband lower down) and we talked of 'stuff'... how, in her opinion, her native Alps were elitist while these mountains are for everyone. Guess that's the point. After all, a clumsy giant has to chuck stones from somewhere. Incidentally there's a similar myth attached to the stone in Glen Loth: http://www.themodernantiquarian.com/site/2872/clach_mhic_mhios_glen_loth.html
Wish I'd have seen Clach Oscar at ground level...
