Meyer just entitles it 'The Fort of Rathangan'. Kuno Meyer, he was a German professor of Celtic studies, and you can download his whole book 'Selections from Ancient Irish Poetry' here https://tinyurl.com/lfkgh6w His note for p93 (where the poem is) says 'see my lecture on Learning in Ireland in the Fifth Century' so I guess that's the age of the original, pretty old! (the lecture is here https://archive.org/stream/cu31924030564110#page/n21/mode/2up/search/rathangan ) regarding the blog, how nice it would be to turn these into 'proper pieces' and perhaps I should get on with it. Nice big lino cuts or something. |
