Malin More (Portal Tomb) by tjj This beautiful white quartz stone is incorporated into the field wall by the Malin More tombs. Given the ruinous state of the tombs I wonder if this stone was taken from one of them.

With Mr G. I love quartz, fantastic stuff. Old quartz quarries near Portsoy, 12 miles north west of Turriff, is were the Victorians mined quartz to make various bits of jewellery. drewbhoy Posted by drewbhoy

I love white quartz too Drew. I told a little story somewhere of taking a piece of white quartz from Glencolmcille (it was just lying around). My friend said jokingly I would upset the fairies - we took it back later in the week and replaced it where I found it :) tjj Posted by tjj
