Blimey, that came out well. Must be over 20 miles away? Wouldn't get that with an optical zoom. GLADMAN Posted by GLADMAN

Yep, about 20 miles. My replacement little compact has a 30x optical zoom, so not anywhere near a DSLR but not too bad for the size. thesweetcheat Posted by thesweetcheat

Thanks Carol. It's a wonderful hill, in a lovely part of Wales. thesweetcheat Posted by thesweetcheat

Looks amazing, great photo. (Am thinking of replacing my camera, yours sounds ideal - when you get a little minute could you please tell me the make and specification?) tjj Posted by tjj

Thanks June :)

It's a Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ60 bought as "reconditioned". I don't have the energy to carry a DSLR around, so I'm very happy with a small compact. This is lightweight and easy to use. It was quite expensive (well, by my standards) at around £200 and I'm not liking it quite as much as its deceased predecessor so far (which was also a TZ, just an earlier model), mainly because they've ditched the touch screen in favour of the larger zoom. I do wonder whether I would've been better with going for a larger sensor and a smaller zoom, but the choice is made! If you want a bargain, you might be better looking for an earlier TZ, like the TZ30.

Thanks very much for this A, have written down the details. I would not want to carry a DSLR either - have been using my current camera for seven years now and it feels like an old friend, a Cannon PowerShot SX200 with a 12x digital zoom. With the exception of clear sunny days, it just isn't as sharp as it used to be (changing the memory card didn't make a difference). I like that it fits easily into whatever bag I'm carrying. tjj Posted by tjj
