Gray Hill

Stone Circle

Gray Hill (Stone Circle) by GLADMAN Southern outlier looking somewhat like a stoned Dave Vanian from The Damned. Good to see the vegetation back as well.

Nice looking stone that and from experience Vanian is a good party animal. Whats the markings on the wee stone in front Mr G? drewbhoy Posted by drewbhoy

I can well imagine.

I assumed the holes might be for sticking gunpowder in when people used to come to these places for celebrations back in the day. Perhaps TSC knows?

Cheers Mr G at least it wasn't anything more destructive. It is a nice looking site and pencilled in. drewbhoy Posted by drewbhoy

Interesting, hadn't noticed that before.

That's certainly a feature of some Cornish sites (in mining communities where explosives were "available", which would be true in South Wales as well) and the stone is nice hard granite at Grey Hill too, so could well be - don't think I'd put dynamite in limestone!
