Druim Dubh (Cairn(s)) by GLADMAN The Allt an Leth-bheinn is crossed by stepping stones giving dryshod access to the superb cist within the western cairn. Two further cairns, both featuring remains of cists, stand upon the right hand bank of the river. The fabulous vista beyond is dominated by BlĂ  Bheinn rising across Loch Eishort. The sharp-eyed may also note Beinn na Caillich keeping tabs on things top right.... and the rain splodge on the lens from the vicious storm fronts. Idyllic? Not a chance.

Lovely photo Mr G. A good example of why Scotland is such a pull for so many of us. Roll on summer ! Posted by CARL

I found this thanks to TSC's misc post... nothing on the 1:50 map which was all I had of Sleat, so just came with the co-ordinates. Notes soon.. GLADMAN Posted by GLADMAN

I can only assume it's on the 1:25k or I wouldn't have come across it either :)

From the date of my post I was obviously stuck inside on a winter evening, dreaming of Scotland. Just shows how that little word "cairn" can hide a wide range of riches.

Yeah... 'Cairns (rems of)'. Doesn't really do it justice, don't you think? GLADMAN Posted by GLADMAN

Ha ha, exactly. As I've been slowly visiting the Valleys sites the range of variation from small clearance to huge ring cairns is striking. I guess if the map said "nothing to see" we'd miss out on a lot of great places though. thesweetcheat Posted by thesweetcheat
