Derbyshire

The Peak District is named not after the hills but after the tribe "Pecsaetans" who lived in the area, the name roughly means 'Hill dwellers'.

I read somewhere that Peak district took itss name from the Appenine mountain range and the peoples got their name from that Anyone know any better?	Posted by Penske666 22nd May 2008ce
