Jarlshof (Ancient Village / Settlement / Misc. Earthwork) by notjamesbond The remains of the 17th century manor house from which the settlement takes its name. It was Walter Scott in his book 'The Pirate' that originally named the house (not the settlement it had not yet been discovered) and the name stuck.
