The Revolutionary Suicide of Charles Laughton!

It was the edge of empire when they were made I suppose.

Many years since I've been up to The Lifts. I used to work in Clydebank and had to travel to Kirkie once a week... I'd heard about the place (pre-interweb 1980's style). I really didn't understand what I was seeing back then!
I'm gonna go back and see these auld fellas over the school Easter Break. Tom Weir was blown away by these. Thanks for reminding me Mr T! Mair power tae yer boots!

Just had a read of Tam's chapter , he says "an old photograph dating back to the 1880's has turned up showing the heads " . I've never seen them in an old pic and wonder if the pic might be the same as the one you had posted earlier or one of http://www.edlcimages.co.uk/archive/categories/auld-wives-lifts/view/2577/ .
It's odd that nobody mentions them despite the rocks being visited by archaeos and antiquarians who managed to notice the other carvings .
