Garrywhin (Chambered Cairn) by Bill The burial monument has been a feature of the landscape for over five thousand years. In the centre is a chamber in which the dead of local communities were buried. The original monument was a small round cairn with a central burial chamber. The chamber was entered through a short low passage forcing the users to crawl in on their knees. They first entered a small ante-chamber, defined by two pairs of large upright stones. This feature is characteristic of chambered tombs in this part of Scotland. More information and pictures at
